Welcome to the Swanzey Police Department

Swanzey, New Hampshire is in the Monadnock region of Cheshire County, set in the southwestern portion of the state. Swanzey borders five other towns, including the largest city in our county, Keene. Swanzey is the second largest town in Cheshire County and is a growing community with a population of approximately 7,300 residents.

Swanzey covers over 45 square miles and has a charming blend of rural, residential, farm, commercial and historic areas. Scattered throughout the beautiful countryside of Swanzey are four historic covered bridges. The Town of Swanzey has two elementary schools that serve over 500 K-6 grade students and is also home to one of the largest regional schools in New Hampshire, Monadnock Regional Middle/Senior High School. This school serves six different communities.

The town is also home of the Cheshire Fair, which attracts numerous visitors to the dozens of major events held at the fairgrounds annually. The Keene, Dillant-Hopkins Airport, is also located in the Town of Swanzey. Routes 10, 12 and 32 dissect the Town of Swanzey and not only act as a commuter route from eastern Massachusetts to Vermont and Western New Hampshire, but also as a shortcut for Vermont-bound skiers and weekenders. Tens of thousands of vehicles travel on these routes through Swanzey on a daily basis.

Swanzey is situated in close proximity to two college campuses, Keene State College and Franklin Pierce College. The residents of the Town of Swanzey enjoy a quality of life that has drawn many visitors to the area.
